Have a go at...Comedy Writing Weekends - Itinerary 

This itinerary is intended as an outline only, and timings may change.

Saturday
8am until 9.30am

Arrival at venue
9 30am Meet and greet with tea and coffee.
Have a go at Comedy Writing Weekend, coffee break, with Brian Leveson

10.00am until 11.30am

Everyone together for introductions.
Paul and Brian will outline the weekend, and examine 1) What makes us laugh? 2) What makes a comedy writer? 3)Where do you use your comedy skills?
You will then explore in detail:

Character Development, the cornerstone of sitcom.
Lead characters and
- their relationships - jeopardy and aspirations.
The "Sit" in Sitcom

- How do we develop attractive and original ideas?
- Are they fresh?
- Are thet attainable?

Q and A session
11.30am until 11.45am Coffee
Writing a sitcom, Have a go at...Comedy Writing Weekend

11.45am until 1.pm

Brian and Paul will discuss:
Plots
Story arcs/Character arcs – what do these mean? – How are they developed?
- Telling a cohesive story
- Weaving in sub-plots
 -Surprises and climaxes

Where does the comedy come from?
- Gags
- Looks
- Circumstance -
The longer form
- Differences between TV and Film
- Moving towards two or three plots

Q and A session

From now on guests will work in groups to develop a new sitcom!
1pm until 2pm Lunch
2.pm until 3.30pm Continuing in groups to develop the sitcom
3.30pm until 3.45pm Tea
3.45 until 5pm Continuingin groups to develop the sitcom
5.pm until 7.30pm Leisure and use of the gym.
7.30pm All together for pre dinner drinks
8.pm All together for dinner
Saturday

In groups again to polish the work.
Q and A session
11.30am until 11.45am coffee
11.45 until 1pm Continue polishing work in groups.

Final Q and A session

Each group will read their sitcom in front of the others.
