Half-day course.

Objectives:

1. To demonstrate how close-up magic can be used to develop team building and human interaction skills.

2. To develop self-confidence in an unfamiliar area, and demonstrate the many ways in which close up effects* can help people to interact with each other and clients.

3. To stimulate individual thought processes within a group to develop team co-operation.

*Rod prefers the term "effect" to the word "trick"

Introduction

Individuals and groups.

Rod outlines the course construction and outcomes. He will demonstrate some professional close-up magic effects and show team applications.

The guests will be divided into groups.

Itinerary (Flexible)

Demonstrate 3 different effects, all with commercial applications, from his professional repertoire.

1) Card routine

Rod will demonstrate one of his own whole deck memory effects, using a complete memorised deck of cards. Guests will then be taught how this is done, and thus will be able to memorise a complete deck of cards in a specific order. From there they will be split into individual groups to develop their own story line. This can be based on any subject of the team's choice.

2) Mentalism Routine

Rod will demonstrate a simple mentalism routine using symbols, and then he will re-work it in a manner tailored to a commercial environment. He will then explain the principles behind it, and each team will develop their own routine based on a subject of their choice.

3) Levitate the “Boss” (Or whoever else you want)!*

Rod will demonstrate (with the assistance of some volunteers!) a jaw dropping team building effect where each member of the team will have to rely on and trust implicitly the other members of their group. On completion guests will be given the opportunity to attempt to perform this effect themselves

* Note this is not hypnosis but a close-up interactive effect that will only work with complete team effort and belief in each other.
