Les
Wilson commenced his professional career in Combined Services
Entertainments, and toured for two years in a show called "At Your
Service" alongside such illustrious names as Kenneth Williams and
Stanley Baxter.
After
a period as a garment manufacturer, Les returned to the bright lights and
may be remembered for his success in the seventies edition of "New
Faces", which was quickly followed by appearances in "Seaside
Special" and "The Ronnie Corbett Special" .
Les added another string to his bow
by playing a straight part in the much acclaimed "Muck and Brass" with
Mel Smith. His other TV credits include "The Bretts", Sob
Sisters", "Shine on Harvey Moon" and "Tinneswood
Country".
During
the seventies Les took over the lead from Bob Grant in the notorious
"Oh Calcutta", and was with the show for just over a year.
In
recent years Les has been employed by Page and Moy, and has entertained on
their cruise ship "The Ocean Majesty". The Winter months
have found him busy on the after dinner circuit, although he has found
time to appear in three Ray Cooney farces - most recently "Caught
in the Net"
In a busy career Les has found
himself as principal comedian at most of Britain's seaside resorts, and
pantomime has played a big part in his itinerary.
Summer
2006 sees Les appearing at the Grand Theatre, Blackpool, and the Winter
Gardens, Margate.
A
former midlands 400 metre champion, Les still likes to keep fit, but now
it's a case of "anyone for tennis?"
