In the 70's and 80's Bobby played most of the country's top theatres, including the Phoenix, the Shaftsbury and the Palladium in London's West End.
He felt so at home with studio audiences that he soon became known as "The King of Television Warm-ups", working onover 5000 shows, including the now legendary episode of Friends recorded in London.
A Royal Variety Performance and his own
show
on
the QE2 led to the first of many TV
appearences,
both as comedian and actor. Shows include: - Bergerac,One Foot in the Grave, Open All Hours, Wogan, My Hero, Brittas Empire andThe Upper Hand. He was the voice of Dale¹s Supermarket Sweep for over 800 episodes.
Bobby
began his "showbiz" career at the tender age of sixteen.
Working men¹s clubs and
pubs led to summer seasons and pantomimes on the
then thriving cabaret circuit.
His recent TV appearances include a one hour special for Channel 5 to be shown later in the year, and a guest appearance in the My Family special episode which went out on Christmas day on BBC1.
In
2002, in an interview with Hello magazine, the late great Bob
Monkhouse told the readers that Bobby was one of his favourite
comedians, saying: -
"I love his charm, warmth and style".
He
recently played the part of the Compare/Comedian in The Quest 111,
set in 1961, directed by and starring David Jason. Playing the
part of Miller, Bobby has just finished filming with Robert
Lindsay, Bill Nighy and Miranda Richardson in Stephen Poliakoff ’s new
film Gideon's Daughter, now released.
And of course he played Pete Waterman to Harry Hill’s Simon
Cowell in Harry’s spoof - At Home with the Pop Idol
Judges - in Harry Hill’s TV Burp on ITV.
